The Eiffel Tower

No vacation to France would be unblemished without a visit to the renowned Eiffel Tower. One of the most renowned landmarks in the world that has come to be the icon of the country, the Eiffel Tower is an iron lattice tower made in 1889. It stands on the Champ de Mars in Paris. This tallest building in Paris is also one of the most visited, most recognizable, and most photographed structured in the world. Millions of people go to this attraction each year which was named after its designer and engineer named Gustave Eiffel. This tower was constructed as the entrance arch to the World's Fair in 1889. The Eiffel Tower measures 324 meters or 1,063 feet in height. It is as tall as most 81-storey buildings.

When it was finished, it became the tallest manufactured edifice in the world, beating the Washington Monument, which held the title for 41 years. It carried that difference until the Chrysler building in New York City was constructed in 1930. When you visit the Eiffel Tower, you will first get to the entry level of the structure where tickets can be purchased to climb the tower whether by stairs or lift. The walk to the first level is 300 steps. It is the same for the walk from the first to the second level. The highest level can only be accessed using the elevator. Restaurants can be found in the first and second levels. This landmark is so foremost that even if you don't go visit it personally, you will see it all throughout your stay in Paris as it is the highest structure in the area.
